Baofeng handheld radio

I'm a -year-old amateur radio operator based in the U.S. My journey into ham radio started during a major cellular and internet blackout. With nothing else working, I powered up a basic Baofeng UV-5R and scanned around, discovering emergency traffic being relayed by local hams to our police department. That moment opened my eyes to the importance of radio, even in modern times.

I got licensed in January 2024 and quickly fell in love with mobile and field operations. Living in an apartment has its limitations, so I do most of my operating out of my Ford Explorer with my IC-7100 and a couple mobile Hamsticks. I also participate in field activities with my local ham club, which I recently joined in May 2025.

My mobile satellite rig (see gear page) lets me reach for the skies while mobile. I’m always tinkering, building, or experimenting with gear — whether it’s antennas, mounts, or logging systems. This site is part of that spirit: documenting what I learn and building useful tools along the way.
